running C12 or C16 racing fuels?

Talking to Ari at Rotary Performance today...

He recommended running 1/8 tank of 92 octane here +
1/8 tank of 103 vp unleaded.(stock turbos 15 psi)

He also said running 15 psi of boost with stock turbos
with C12 or C16 will actually cause you to slow down about 1/2 sec. and lower trap speeds when at the Dragstrip.

Hence with the slower burn... the lost in power.

anybody have the same experience?

jack.

i'm running 110 leaded. i have a pettit ECU.
i tried C16 but the car didn't like it, so i went down to C12 and it ran better and it even better with 110. but i live at 3200 ft above sea level so cars tend to run rich because of the elevation. i would run C16 at sea level, i don't think gaining 2 tenths is worth it , if i might risk blowing up my motor. BTW, i run 15 psi at the track

I was told to never mix fuel with other fuel, but on the other hand, people say that its fine, some also say that is fine to mix leaded with unleaded. What does sea level have to do with anything???

He was talking about sea level because the air density is higher at sea level (more air molecules packed together). This effects performance and cumbustion charateristics (mostly higer combustion temp due to leaner mixture). You could brush up on air/fuel mixtures and other topics at www.howstuffworks.com
