with the version 2 (from august 93) they had two types of type R - the standard, and the RII (two seater). I have a 4-seater R from that era. Not sure how that panned out by the end of the decade - perhaps I have the info somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up. To be honest, I didn't notice the rear seats.

the s-package did have a spoiler - but not that one, and not an adjustable one
Are you aware that the one im after is 2000 model. By the way on that s package for RB's, was it the same spoiler for the RS? The one in the picture is adjustable yes? By the way, did RS and RB come with LSD? Or was it only RS? On the information bar for the car, it says it has LSD. Please tell me RB did not have LSD.

please read carefully, it gives me the ***** typing everything twice, lol (btw, I'm australian too, despite the location).

the one in the picture is, as I stated, a version 5 (as opposed to the yellow bathurst - which certainly is a version 6) - the version 5 started in december 98 and ran until 00 - so if you have been told it is an 00, it probably is.

as for the spoiler - read the last line of my last post

ahem...

I'm going to retract that statement about the spoiler...

I have an official image (mazda image) of the s-package and it shows a flat, non-adjustable wing. Despite this, I just checked the online car classifieds, and the first three s-packages I've looked at have adjustable wings (as per the pic).

Does that mean, you can not tell by the spoiler is its RS or RB S pack? Man im confused on this spoiler ****. If you can get a Adjustable Spoiler on a RB, then im guessing you can't tell the difference by the spoiler.

it means the spoiler isn't a defining factor

the glass IS

take a look at the different images I just posted on page 2 - match them with the rear pic you posted. Then you tell us whether that looks like RB glass.

Here is the bathurst type r, everyone is drooling over. I stated that it was 2000 model but i found out that it infact was 2001. Only 19000 kms but 5g's extra compared to the blue one im after.

do not ask about the r34 gtr at the back because it's worked off it's nuts and priced at 84000 dollars. Crazy machine i have to admit.

It's hard to tell - as the pics aren't taken from the same angle, and under the same light conditions (as you can see by the light reflection).

I think it's an RS.

Easiest way to tell - why don't you just ring them and ask them to read to you exactly what is on the build plate.

With the IBM check to see if it has twin oil coolers in each of the ducts in the front. If you compare the brakes of the SBY type R Bathurst R to the brakes on the IBM, if it's an RS they will be significantly bigger.

Oh sorry I just ready through again. I take it you are not near where the car is?

'build sticker' - I should say. I don't want to confuse terms. As noted - drivers' side door well - will have all sorts of info there

This Monday, i would find out for sure. Right now, all i know is that the following things make it a RS.

- Vehicle Build Sticker Info - Located Driver Door Side Jam
- Rear glass has to be tinted
- Adjustable Spoiler
- Bilstein Suspension
- Two Oil Coolers
- RS has bigger brakes than the Bathurst Type R brakes

thank you for everything guys, if theres anything else i need to know about the RB RS differences, please let me know, i will get back to you on monday to let you know what is going on with the RX-7. Cheers,
Buri

what I like about this thread is that there is alot of info flying in here. Daioni has enlightened me on some stuff here too. It's a learning expierence for alot of us. Great Job guys!! The seat thing is messing things up here. According to all the pics and info, the seats in the RS?? is actually a type R seat, so what is really there? A type R or a Type RB,RB type S or RS with Type R seats. That is the question. This thread could go on all day, because we don't have that info patch by the door to confirm this.

Your only confirming things here now, Look at the pictures of the car fd3s_7 has. Look at the interior/seats and lokk at the pic you gave of the version 5 seats.

Tell me what you see.
Either the seats where changed or he's actually looking at a version 6!

Sorry to be kinda off topic, but I was wondering what Rb, Rs, and all this stuff is. I got the hint that they are different models, but what are different about them?

indian: I just opened up all three pics (just to check if I was going mad...). The type 6 has the kind of stripey design, the 5, and the car in question, are the same (though one photo has obviously been taken with a flash - so it looks lighter).

timmy: basically, the RB is the base-spec (cheapest) model. The RS was the best optioned sports version for that production run (version 5).

I'm sorry, but the pic that you gave with the interior of the version 5 still looks different to me than fd3s 7 pics. Can someone else confirm this please. Your version 5 seats is smooth like mine. Fd3s 7 seats are stripped like the type R.

This is getting agrivating. I'm not saying I'm right , Just wanna find out the right ****.

The metal pedals were an option.
