RPMs too high for smog!!!

i just got a smog check and the guy said my RPMs were too high to pass. What should i do?

Use less foot pressure on the gas pedal during the test?

Or was the test at idle? If so, fix your idle speed.

The idle adjustment screw is in the middle of the throttle body, under the intake elbow. The screw is recessed, so you can't feel it. Get a small mirror so you can see where to put your standard screwdriver to adjust it.
