Routing of overflow return line

I was installing an intake heat shield and found that the coolant line that runs from the AST to the overflow tank is in the they way. I'm guessing that a PO at some point shortened up the line. I've checked the FSM to see if I can find out where that line would normally be routed stock but couldn't find it. Can anyone tell me where that coolant return line should run?

My FD currently has it running down from the AST, along the brace right behind the rad, then angles up towards the overflow tank. The problem is that is where the heat shield would go.

Sounds like it is correctly routed. Typically, you have to take that line into account when creating a heat shield for what I assume is an open intake.

Yeah, open intake. I know this is stupid, but anyone have pictures of that line as it heads towards the overflow tank?
