Rough cold start...almost like running on half motor for 30 seconds

So I am trying to trouble shoot another new issue that popped up. See the videos below. Cold start it literally sounds like it is only firing on only front or rear rotor. Stock ignition with Magnecor wires and new 9 plugs all the way around. If I give it gas a few times, the car will eventually start to cold idle a little normal, then when warm will act normal. When colder there is a terrible 4k wall that the car hits, almost like the ignition is cutting out. This is during partial throttle. Once warm, there might be a slight stumble but the car still runs well. During the cold start car smells terribly rich and has unburned fuel out of the exhaust.

On warm restart it will stumble a little bit and the get back to normal after one throttle blip.

I was thinking it could have been stuck injectors, but thinking I would see issues warm or cold across the entire RPM range. Now thinking its ignition related.

I did test the TPS sensor and it is within the correct voltage ranges. I replaced the plugs with new. I also checked to make sure the Map sensor was getting vacuum. AFRs are upper 12s to 13.3. When the car is warm, idle AFR is 12.3

Any ideas/suggestions?

Did anything change between when the car was running properly and now?

Post a picture of the sensor check screen on the PowerFC and pull up all the monitors (8) and take a picture with the car not running, just key on.

Wondering if it could be water temp sensor or water temp sensor related.

Also triple-check your plug wires to make sure they are all going to the right plug and they are on fully. I know FC Magnecor wires didn't want to seat well, you had to "burp" the air out of the wire to get it to seat. Don't have experience with them on the FD.

Dale,

I recently changed the fuel filter(stupid placement) and new plugs. The old filter was substantially heavier than new. could have been because the old was saturated with gas and new was dry and probably because the old filter had a bunch of crud in it. I should have cut it open to look.

I have taken the plugs out probably 4 times during this issue. The Magnicor wires are more difficult than usual to get the to seat properly, but I have tried to make sure they are nested onto the end correctly. I will check it again though for good measure.

Will get a photo of the sensor check PFC screen tonight at sometime. Appreciate the help.

Eric

Mine does this constantly even after extended drives. Wasn't doing this a few weeks ago.

Originally I thought it was flooding, so I pulled the plugs to see if they were wet and they were not. Why I thought it could be ignition related

i think mine might be an injector that drips a bit or something like that. when i start it cold its fine, when i turn it off and start it again, its not.

ignition is possible too, although i ended up replacing mine, and i'm not sure it made a difference (mine is an FD engine in an FC chassis, so i swapped from the FC ignition to the FD, FD is lighter, more in the center, and gives me room for an IC pipe)

Reading back over things I think you may be looking at a dripping injector. Not bad enough but leaking enough that when the car sits overnight it's dripping fuel into the engine that has to burn off, then it's dripping extra fuel so you're rich.

Other possibility is a bad coolant seal, but you haven't said anything about it using coolant. That's also common, let it sit, coolant pools in the engine and takes a while to burn off.

PFC settings seem to be good from those pictures.

Appreciate the comments. I think its either the injectors or spark related. Thinking I need to rip the upper manifold off and take the primary/secondaries out to have them flow tested/balanced. I would like to retune the car anyway so it could only do the car good to have the injectors tuned up.

Will repost once I get all of that completed with results.
