Rotary Shack SMIC?
So what kind of performance gains can be expected from a IC in this size? Considering its core is an inch thicker than stock, its height about an inch/inch and a half higher than stock...
Oem core: 2.5 x 11.5 x 4.5 volume 129.4
Bell core: 3.5 x 11.5 x 6 volume 241.5
I talked to my friend who has the laser cutting machine (and showed him the photos of the rotary shack unit) and he said he would cut it for free as long as I bring my own aluminum sheeting, and he said cutting 0.1 aluminum is no problem. He can even do the front faces in one piece and bend them at a 45 degree angle, just like the rotary shack unit.
Then I would just need to find some one to TIG weld it.
Bell also has a 4.5 thick core...would this be too thick for a SMIC?

Cheap intercooler pipe $15
http://www.sdsefi.com/techcooler.htm
Says they use 0.05mm sheet metal
http://store.buymetal.com/aluminum-s...-h32-0.05.html
24" x 24" sheet runs about $11
Less than $300 in materials, if you find a fabricator to do the work for you could be a good deal
If you really want to go cheap, this one is a 3" core $110

Yeah you could make this thing at half the cost
received the cooler , after inspecting it, it has a genuine spearco bar and plate core (USA made) and the welds were beautiful! cheese was also in the box so we ate it while we installed the cooler. smooth transaction overall. total install time was 20 minutes. fitment was perfect , unlike all the rotaryworks china crap my cousin bought prior to this purchase. will post pics of the RS cooler installed . after we make some hits on a hot day I will report back intake air temps from the power FC. happy turkey day!
Doc, its been raining here in sunny California so we have not ben able to drive enough to get solid numbers.. we did notice the boost did go up a bit, most likely due to less pressure drop with the hi flow spearco core..
