V8 is probably a better motor. But nothing is more fun than a rotary. It's about the feel, for me.

Good discussion a little while back about it with the owners of the cars:

Agreed. Great video. Makes a V8 swap a really tough decision.

It's actually a horrible video, the presenter couldn't be more disinterested and unenthusiastic about those beautiful machines

not a rotary if you put a piston into it.

terrible video. Especially interested in understanding how the sentence "the V8 car is more refined" has actually something to do with the engine.

How about the part when he tells us that losing the twins and putting in a single turbo will make the power more "linear"?

I wish they could have got Chris Harris to do the video, but he would need some crazy 3 or 4 Rotor action to make it worth his time given his pedigree.

The video is fun to watch. It show a couple of really nice FD's. You dont get to see that very often.

You cant say its a terrible video just because the guy happens to prefer the V8.

Thanks for sharing. Nice to see our cars in modern day car reviews. LS swap has its merits.

Look at the dyno graph of a EFR single and compare it to a stock twins graph.

Don't really like the driver. It's not because he looks like a slob and seems cocky, it's that he speaks in generalizations that are sometimes flat wrong and doesn't seem to have the background/qualification in order to do his job properly.

I had a LS1 FD and did not enjoy it. In fact I enjoy rotary FDs much more than any of the handful of Vipers or Vettes I owned.

However, in the video they are not comparing apples to apples if they're attempting to find out which motor is better. One is a huge NA motor and the other a tiny turbo motor. Swap a 1JZ/2JZ or skyline motor thats roughly the same size and has the same characteristics and then do the comparison. Then the rotary may not have much to stand on.

I hate my v8 swap too. Too much power and too great of gas mileage over my old rotary setups. Yuck! it smells bad too and it will never be as good as its older brother. Oh if it could only go back to its highschool days, I just know it could take state.

And the guy in that video, what gives? am I right? He probably lives in a house, waits 45 minutes after eating to swim and is a midnight golfer! He doesn't even have a 6 pack, gelled hair or a British accent, i mean come on! I cant stand that about him. Someone should really talk to that guy and I dont care if the supreme court does say all states are obligated to recognize a mans right to do cool videos and put them on the internet Ill still like it less than other stuff I like more.

In all seriousness, good video, nice cars. No complaints here....

Thanks for sharing. I like it. Basically, it was an informative video rather than a performance video. From the looks of it, both cars are set up to handle the track really well. I would like to see someone do a piece on the Rotary vs. V8 on a track setting with similar cars such as these (same suspension setup, same tires, same wheels, same brake setup, full interior, etc) and the same professional driver for each of the cars.
