Question Rotary Extreme (RX7 Fashion Style) Intake Installation?

What is usually required for the install of the Rotary Extreme (similar to RX7 Fashion) intake? I just got mine and it doesn't just drop in. So, before I wiggle and scratch too much...

It looks like the irregular shape tabs at the bottom of the intake are designed to fit around the fan housing. Since I have a Fluidyne radiator, I suppose the fan housing may not be in the same position as with the stock radiator. Thoughts?

Looks like I will have to re-route the coolant overflow tank line. Suggestions?

Since the fit is so tight, should I even bother using the two bolt holes in the bottom?

I bought some cheap aluminum intake pipes off ebay... Looks like the bottom (short) one is NEVER going to fit.

TIA

I can't answer the other fitment questions, but re: the coolant overflow line. You will have to undo the bracket below the tank, pull the line out of the plastic clip beneath the IC. This will allow you to reroute the line BEHIND the bracket, allowing the intake box to sit on the frame instead of the coolant line.

1. yep the ebay bottom pipe won't fit. but of course you knew that after having searched here before buying

2. yeah, they are a bitch to get in. i think to get it in using the bolts you will need to drop the aftermarket rad 1" by relocating the mounting tabs somehow. maybe search for mounting tabs and see what threads come up.

robinette has some input into installing these things.

I got the Rx7 fashion intake and koyo radaitor, First thing my koyo is a 4 row radiator so in the beginning I had to customizse the o/e bracket's to lower the radiator. Now for the intake it would never line up perfect because when rx7 fashion cut the hole for the pipe's I guess it was not measured correct, so which thro off the intake a little. This is what I did to make mine fit, I enlarge the holes of the intake, thne cut the upper pipe by 1/2 inch, then the little lower tab I bend it to left offcourse facing the car infront not to be confuse with other left {like driver side} anyway that should help a little to make it fit, also if u get a pfs i/c then u really have to get creative to make everything work, better off in the future get the greddy drop in. khris
