rotary aviation rebuild video review

i just got my copy of rotary aviation rebuild video. i decided to get all 3, 1 is a how to on how to rebuild a 13B, the others are how to yank an engine out of a fc (and to take it down to the short block) and the other is how to yank an engine out of a fd (and to take it down to the short block)

They cost me ~100 bucks and took about 3-4 weeks to get here but I gotta say, they are totally worth it! I think every one here should get a copy (perhaps make it a required thing hehe ), it would end a whole bunch of "help me" threads on this forum which people are probally still having problems with.

It is, by far, one of the best things I have ever bought/done for my car

some complaint i did have was with in the middle of the 13B rebuild video, the part where there is a short clip of the rotary powered airplane. how come it was so short? and the only trick it showed it doing was a single roll :p On a more serious note, it did not show as much as I would have wanted on pulling the engine with the different trannies from the car or disconnecting the tranny from the engine in and out of the car. With this info, it would have been an even better video. (currently, the only info given to how to do this is about 2 or 3 digi pics with him saying disconnect the starter and tranny cover; take off 6 bolts and step on clutch a few times and it should just come apart. is this all you have to do to disconnect the tranny from the engine? if so i guess it is good enuf info but i always though u gotta use a long screw driver to hold/push that ring toward the engine/flywheel and then you can disconnect it buy pulling the release bearing away from it).

perhaps his next video will show how to rebuild a manual tranny im sure a lot of us have question on how to do that as many of our stockers are suffering from 3rd and 5th gear grinds as well as other problems. i have heard that it is possible to redo a 5th gear synchro with out even pulling the entire tranny out of the car...

i bought it straight from rotary aviation at www.rotaryaviation.com

i think you will be plesently suprised at how well these videos have been made. personally, both of my rx7's (fc and fd) are running very well but i still think these videos are well worth it and are terrific assets (kinda like how a real fsm is worth it). i would recommend all 3 to anyone with a rotary engine or to anyone with an intrest in them!

Not only are they very informative but I enjoyed watching and learning from them a lot!

P.S. I have not been paid or have any connections with the people which made/are selling this video, I'm just stating my personal feelings about these items. Actually I have never heard a bad review about these videos so perhaps that should tell us all something. I must admit, do feel pretty stupid for not buying them once I got my first rotary powered car.

Yeah those are the Bruce Turrentine Videos. You can also get them straight from http://www.rotaryresources.com I'm planning on getting his rebuild video and his 3rd gen video. He also sells some rebuild kits for some great prices.

humm.. double post??

J/K
Although I do remember posting the exact topic about 6 months back. I thought my review was a bit better though, rofl. They are great videos, although I think he needed to address the changing of bearings in the rotors and stationary gears better. He kind of just says, spec them, if they are out, oh well. He doesnt give you any options.

BTW, have a shop press in your bearings if they are out of spec. Very cheap and not worth your hassle.

yes i also have both videos, the first one i bought was the one from atkins rotary on the 13b rebuild. i watched that and then 2 days later my other two videos came from rotaryaviation, and bruces 13b rebuild video smashes atkinsrotary video, atkins just doesnt even compare. and the r&r video is great. im about to pull mine out in the next week or two and without that video i know it would take me twice as long to get it out. the best investment for my FD i have ever made!
