When I bought my FD it had the Autopower roll bar in it, which I have since removed. That particular roll bar didn't have any connection to the rear strut tower. It had four connection points, one on the floor behind the seat, and one going through the speaker grill (gotta sacrifice the rear speakers), on both the driver and passenger side. Sorry I don't have any pics. If your primary thing is racing then the Autopower would be fine, but mine is a daily driver and the roll bar made the car more claustrophobic. It also inhibited how far the passenger could move their seat back.

Mine bolts to the floor where the bins used to be and to the rear fenders. It's a Kirk Racing - $305. They also make one that bolts to the floor behind the seats. If you're interested in a pic anyhow send me an e-mail .

kirk racing roll bar
This is the Kirk racing roll bar. I had sidebars added just recently. I put some large eyebolts in the cross bar to mount the top straps of the harness. Lower straps are held in place by the seat bolts. Cage is very nice. If you go with kirks cage have them powdercoat it for you. When I bough mine it was a 75 dollar option. I just recently decided to have my coated and it cost me 100 to have the paint sandblasted off and another 100 to powdercoat it.

NICE BAR!!
I saw your car at KD Rotary 2 weeks ago.
Which roll bar is that? I know its a Kirk Roll bar but which one? Im interested in the Kirk Roll bar but they have a couple of different ones..
This is the Email I got from Julie at Kirk Racing....
The 4 point bar for the 3rd gen RX7 comes in two styles and three types of material. First, the street bar includes a main loop with two rear braces. This is made of 1.75" x .120 ERW and runs $225 plus shipping but is not track legal. The competition bar is a 4 point bar which includes the main loop with a diagonal and horizontal brace, and two rear braces. This can be made in two styles, in one you loose the use of the storage bins, the other you would keep the bins in place. These bars are usually made of an 1.75" x .120 DOM material which runs $315 plus shipping. If made of an 1.75" x .120 ERW the same bar would run $285 plus shipping. There is also the option of making either bar of a 2" material which run $335 plus shipping. I hope this isn't all too confusing. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
Im looking for one without the rails and I want to keep the rear bins...So Which one is it?

The bar I have must be this one
"The competition bar is a 4 point bar which includes the main loop with a diagonal and horizontal brace, and two rear braces. " I choose the one that allowed you to keep the bins.
Not sure about material, I got mine 3 years ago. I think they used to make them all out of 2 inch pipe. I have know idea what the difference is between
"1.75" x .120 DOM material which runs $315 plus shipping. If made of an 1.75" x .120 ERW the same bar would run $285 plus shipping" My guess would be the more expensive one is made out of a stronger lighter metal.
Cage probably weights around 100 pounds. You will lose some interior space. It's been so long since I have had stock seats but I believe they will still go back almost all the way, you just will not be able to recline nearly has much.
Car is still at daves, we tried to dyno it and the oil pump craped out. With any luck I'll be up there is friday to try again.

with the kirk bar... if you choose the one to keep the rear bins, do you loose the rear speakers or does it mount directly to the floor. Which one would be recommended if I wanted to maintain maximum seat usage.(being able to recline the seat a little and move it fairly far back) I am a fairly tall person 6'2" 190lbs. Oh, I have a sunroof as well. will it still work?

Installing the Roll bar as we speak...
M2 with all options including the seat back supports,
adjustable.
Max is right bout how it takes a little 'encouragement' to bang together.
I have everything in, just need to drill it in.
Hopefully everything will come together for Buttonwilow this weekend
I picked mine up from M2 as I am local...
They had more than a few FDs being worked on there.
There were 2 other roll bars in stock if anyone wants one. I dont know if they are spoken for.
