Hey Damian.........

Your vids are awesome...........hook a brotha up...........

Right now, I'm just doing the single digicam/A/O port mount type thing.........but would like to do the remote remote cam thing as well...........behind the wheel well, off the rear spoiler etc. etc..............

Can you recommend some products that won't break the bank and will give me some good results..............do I have to buy a different vid system or is there a way to hook remote cams into an existing digicam??

Thanks for the help.

David

a few :-) hehehe,

I have two small 3ccd panasonics that I use for 'on car' footage, so one is mounted inside for the the incar shot, another is mounted outside the car for the 'wheels' shot or other external mounted shots.

...then I also have the canon gl1 for trackside footage (If I can get someone to take the shots, I am in teh car so I cant....heheheh..)...sometime I bring the big dog, the canon xl1, but not usually, its to much $$ to risk damage at the track and the gl1 takes better footage quality.

a lot of it is editing, you can use one camera to take all the footage durign differnet times (sessions) then edit it to look like a linear set of events.

^---- interesting, i like the shots towards the end where it kinda of zooms in to your car with a whole bunch of pastel like patterns and colors. what effect is that? and what do you use to edit again? i keep asking, and forgetting

the effect is called 'damians hack filter ' :-) heheheh

I zoomed in so that it distorted the imagea bit, then blurred it to get rid of hard lines fromt eh zoom pixilation, then bumped up the contrast a lot so that the colors got exaggerated, i knew this would work well with the yellow of the car and the orange of the rumble strips.

I use 'adobe premiere pro' for the simple assembly editing, I use 'combustion' for any advanced compositing, '3d max' for any animation, et, et.... but a simple video like this one can all be done in adobe premiere.

hmm gotta get me a copy of that!

yea that effect worked really good with the rumble strips.. its like it should be slowed down a lot more with classical musik playin in the background hehehe

i always tried to get into the whole editing thing, bought myself an elura 40mc a long time ago, filmed my cousins wedding using 3 minidv tapes, started using ulead, then studiodv, then i tried to go hardcore with Avid Xpress DV Pro but that was soooooo complicated!

I was tryin to put together an exciting DVD, but, never happened, its been 3 years now and still no release from me. maybe for their 4year anni

Its hard to get motivated to start editing again, i lack creativity! and i used to be in special art class in junior high school! (i'm 23 1/2 now)

I saw a video on the net the other day that looked a like your syle of photo work. I'm pretty shure the title was THE KID. It was about this kid who was driving a GT3 porsch, there was also some clips of sinfeild with some of his badass porsches. Anyways that vid ROCKS.

Damian:
I understood they car stuff to be hobby related, but was curious if it was related to work, and I now know. I'm in the consumer magazine biz, and we work with different film production houses on projects with marketers/advertisers. I'm so impressed by the stuff you just 'hacked' together, that it's got my mind spinning on how to integrate your work with our sales efforts. PM me your contact info, and I'll get in touch with you next week upon my return from this business trip I'm on.
Cheers,
Bob
