Is the car single turbo or stock twins?
I know of a few single turbos cars that have issues on their first long trip since their upgrade due to poor heat sleeving and/or poor line placement (oil and coolant feed/return).
In general I agree with all of the above. Rotaries are very reliable without boost (ie cruising on the highway).

yeah, but have you messed with it at all? the stock boost levels are fine. mine didn't grenade till i cranked the boost up haha. see my album "sad day" for what happens when those stockers let go.....
At least you are paranoid about it. Just to calm your nerves, check and recheck everything before you leave, when you stop for gas, etc. It'll put your mind to ease. You'll have a great trip. Are you gonna take 95 down there? If so, you'll pass by me, right after you enter NC. Don't stop, this place has the same affect as a black hole.

LOL your down there on 95 by that big *** opra house? I know where thats at... Yah ill head that way and pass south of the boarder and do all that **** til i hit I10 in Fl
Dude, Silver Lake Road is worth the risk. FSU alumnus here. I used to trick unsuspecting girls into getting on the back of my ninja and scare the **** out of them on that road. For whatever reason, they were pretty horny when all said and done.
how did i just see this thread? man i'm away for like 5 mins and people are calling me out and ****. haha
dude...do it. drive it. 800 miles? no problem. if the car daily drives alright, you should be fine. interstate driving is a piece of cake compared to stop & go B.S.
our cars get pretty good interstate gas mileage too. usually i get about 14mpg (1600 sec, 550 prim) when daily driving but on the interstate i get like 20mpg!!!
sounds like your car is fine. i would say do it.
just make sure you wash your rear bumper when you get home. mine is BROWN right now. haha. it needs a good scrubbing to get all the exhaust deposits off...
oh and rich is very right. rotaries are very reliable when it comes to interstate cruising. they really purrrrr on the highway. i swear if i ever build a kit airplane i'm definitely going rotary. consistent constant RPM + rotary = win.

Yep, thats it. A $22 million dollar abandoned building. Best thing is, taxpayers here get to pay for something we didn't even get to vote on. If you get bored do you a google search for some articles about the Roanoke Rapids Theater. What a wonderful investment it was.

They'd be better off burning it to the ground and collecting the insurance.

On my second FD I drove from Virginia Beach to Ohio and back a few times and Virginia Beach to Beaufort SC. That's a 9 hour trip each way. My third FD I drove it from South Carolina to California.
The only issue I had was when driving at 80 mph. The car would be right on at 3000rpms where the bogging occurs on 93s. It scared the crap out of me the first time. SO I just cruised between 75-85.

I drove my car blown to peices running on 1 rotor, blown coolant seal 400miles. and didnt even warp my housings..
then again, im under the impression that isn't common so....
if its going to blow its going to blow. Im no guru but id guess a steady 70mph wouldnt be the thing to kill it.

I bumped this thread cause i was on the highway today and i was sitting right on 3000rpms, then i remembered your post and i looked at my speedo and it was around 73mph.
And yes the 3k hesitation does happen. Mine is not as bad though but i do feel that little miss at exactly 3k rpm. So i try to cruise right over it.

Actually its around 72-74mph (i have 17s so wheel speed might be 1.x mph off) @ 3000rpms.

When I moved back to Wichita Falls from Charleston, I drove the FD stuffed with all my **** the whole way. And you thought the FD was uncomfortable without everything you own crammed in there with you! It was the best road trip I've ever taken in my life though.
