WA RIP Red Beauty... You saved my life...

Well, I guess it was just a matter of time before someone had to do what everyone is afraid of the most, destroy the car you had been working on for the past 6 years.
Here is what happened: I was completely stopped waiting to turn left and waiting for the oncoming traffic to pass before moving. I had my turning signals running since I have been turning in the same spot for the past 3 years and I know that people might not realize that there is an entrance there since it is kind of small.
The truck behind me ( that was at least 200 feet behind me when I stopped ) didn't see me stop, maybe he was on the phone, maybe texting, maybe he was just sleepy, we will never know.
He saw me when he was about 40 feet from me and he was doing around 50 MPH or so. He started braking and sliding and he tried to turn to the right to avoid the collision but still clipped me on the right taillight area.
Then, of course since the truck weighs at least twice as much as my car, I went flying forward into the oncoming traffic.
On the opposite lane there was a 4 door Honda Accord coming my way at around 40 MPH so we collided after a fraction of a second.
I had a couple of seconds when I was recovering from the crash and felt my face like I had someone hit me with something heavy but kind of soft ( pretty close to when you get hit in the face when playing soccer ) That was the Air Bag stopping my face from hitting the steering wheel. So I decided to look at my face in the mirror expecting to see something missing or hanging, but to my surprise I was completely intact, just sore.
After that, I started having difficulties breathing since there was a lot of smoke getting into the cabin and the powder from the airbag was in the air also so I opened the door ( that was not jammed at all )
After that, I simply walked away from the car and went to see the people in the Honda but they already had a lot of other people talking to them.
Well, there are many pictures I am posting ( some right after the collision and some in the shop after a couple of days ) and even a video that a person that was behind us shot that shows some of the accident from far. But the most important thing I got from all this is that the Mazda RX7 FD is PRETTY SAFE and behaved so well during the crash. I walked out of it with just a scratch in my wrist and a small bruise in my knee.
Now, I have some paperwork to find to get the insurance to pay me for all the aftermarket parts that I had installed in the car. The problem is that they told me I had to show some receipts for the parts and many of those parts were bought here in the forum using Paypal and they were bought more than 3 years ago and Paypal seems to only save up to 2 years of transactions? So if everyone has any ideas of how to prove the purchases I did here in the forum please let me know.
Thank you very much for any help and hope this never happens to you

Glad everyone is ok, IMO the FD held up incredibly well for that type of accident.

Sorry for your loss, but that makes a great point to always file your receipts in a separate folder. Hope you get rightfully compensated!

glad you are ok because cars can always be replaced.

As far as insurance goes and if you have aftermarket equipment coverage: it really doesnt mater what they cost you, what matters is the cost of replacement. For example, someone could had given you a feed hood as a present so you don't have a receipt. However the hood costs $2k to replace then the insurance company owes you the $2k. Find current prices of the items and submit those. If they refuse, time to see a lawyer.

If you don't have aftermarket component coverage then you might be **** out of luck. As you are asking them to pay for something that was never covered and therefore you never payed insurance on.

With my previous insurance company (had to leave because of a bad ticket) I had an additional $17k of coverage for modifications.

One of the rules that it taught to professional drivers, but should be taught to everyone is that when you're stopped for a left turn in a traffic lane, keep your wheels straight until you are making that turn, and it's for just this reason. I hope others can learn just how dangerous this can be.

I'm glad you're ok and I hope the FD doesn't get turned to scrap!

^this is true, but even so, the right rear impact looks to have put him in the opposing traffic lane, not necessarily his wheels having been turned. in the video it appears the wheels were straight.

Wrong.

That is the same as someone with liability only insurance. They are taking the risk onto themselves if they cause an accident to fix their own vehicle. However, just because they are not covering their own vehicle does NOT mean it isn't covered if someone else is at fault. Otherwise, liability only would be illegal.

All you have to do is prove the parts are on the car. Then they have to replace.

You pay insurance for scenarios where you are the cause of the loss (or uninsured).

In this case, it is the responsibility of the insurer of the person at fault to "make whole." He can use pictures and websites to document his parts. You don't need reciepts. It's a long road, but stick to your guns. They will try to make it hard on you. But if you have pictures of the parts on the car, and you want replacement value, then make it happen. Dont let them push you around. It is completely on them to make whole.

I take the opposite view from this typical human reaction.
Even though each human is unique, there are too many already on earth, and more are constantly being made.

The FD is OUT OF PRODUCTION and harder and harder to find good ones.
One day they will all be gone but humans will still be here.

I mourn the loss of a FD more than the loss of a human.
I believe humans have a soul and survive but not a FD.

Monkman is right, because its not your fault it's the other insurance companies responsibility to replace all parts.

Thanks all for the good wishes and advice. Yes I will fight for them to pay for all the aftermarket parts I had in the car. You guys are right, I heard somewhere else the same thing about being covered and not needing to proof receipts when the other person is at fault and not me.
Also, for the record, the front wheels were completely straight, I never leave them turned, but the truck crashed me in the rear right area and while going sideways so that's why it pushed in an angle and into the opposite lane.
So far, the shop did an estimate on the repairs of the car ( without most of the aftermarket parts since they didn't have info on them ) and told the insurance it will cost 20K to repair the car.
I will keep you posted.

Glad you are ok, that's all that matter.

As far as insurance goes, the other guy's insurance will pay for everything, you don't need prove of purchase. When my MX-6 got hit few years back, the JDM headlight was crushed. The insurance quote me for a stock headlight so I call them up and told them that's not what I have on the car, they ask for a picture and where to buy one. These lights are very hard to find and the only one I found was on eBay at the time, so I gave them the link, the insurance then told me to buy it first and they'll credit me in the insurance quote. So quote the insurance with the most expensive source first, if they don't do their research then you might be able to get some extra money.

WA You CAN get more than 2 years of Paypal receipts....

Small update, I found out that you CAN actually get a list of the transactions from Paypal older than 2 years. You have to go to History/Download History. Then you have to select the dates BUT the important thing is, you can download a maximum period of 2 years at a time, so if you have transactions older than that, then you have to get them in multiple downloads.
So I can get most of my transactions if they need them, even though as many pointed out already, I should not be forced to show any receipts.
I'll update in the coming days.
