Rewire fog lights to come on with parking lights?
I was wondering if there is an easy way to rewire the stock fog lights to come on with the parking lights. I drive with my parking lights on all the time and I think that it would look good to have the fog lights on with them. What do you all think? Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks in advance.

There has got to be an easier way to do it than that.. basically the stock system won't allow you to turn them on unless the headlights are up. Well, the foglight switch must only be getting a complete circuit when the lights are up/on.. I want to do this myself and I know the solution lies in the wiring diagram. If you can find the wire that completes the circuit with the fogs, and rewire it to get signal from say the ignition switch or parking lights then you will be able to switch them on and off at will when the car is on. I did this on my old MKIII turbo, the fogs would only come on with the headlights.. I just rewired it and voila.. complete control. I just don't understand why a separate control box needs to be used to accomplish this, seems like way too much work. If I figure this out in my gobs of free time (sarcasm) I will post to the forum.

Just get a regular foglight relay and power the switch side with the parking light circuit. You can use a vampire type connector to tap into one of the parking light wires. Pull the power to the lights from a circuit which can handle the current. You can connect directly to the battery with an inline fuse. Then just tap into the driving lights. I've done this on several cars. Problem is when you forget and leave the parking lights on. Luckily the FD beeps when you leave the lights on.

EASY!!! this is what I did. Pull up the center console. Find the fog switch. Cut the Red wire with a Yellow stripe then splice the end going to the fog switch into the Red with a Black stripe. Done Just make sure you get a good connection, I used solder. Also make sure you give yourself plenty of room from the switch... it sucks to run out of wire. The one bad thing is that it will dim the parking lights slightly because the different voltage, not bad though I live with it. I am sure there might be a way to bypass this but I am not the best with the wire diagrams. I have tried to splice it right before the relay in the engine bay but no different so I went back.

Another option which I use and have used for quite some time now is rewiring them to turn on with the switch, whenever I want them on, which is always.
To do this, find the thick Red/yellow wire coming out of the switch. Cut this wire between the switch and the plug. Now, go to the store and buy a piece which will allow you to add a fuse to your fuse box through a fuse which is currently there. Don't know the technical term, but I bought mine at KMart in the auto fuse section, so you should be able to find them anywhere. There should be a wire coming out of this piece. Run a wire from this piece to the red/yellow wire coming out of the switch. As far as the fuse to "plug" into, I used the ABS fuse. NEVER had any problems with it, but I am not saying it is not dangerous, so pick a fuse carefully. I have had the foglight fuse blow (careless wiring on my part, fixed now) before without the abs fuse blowing, so this piece does work.
This supplies power to the foglight circuit, which only usually happens when the headlights are on. And the lights will go off when you turn off the ignition. The down side to this is that your foglights will not go off with your high beams, which as stated before, is illegal in most states. I'm sure that if you look further into the wiring, you can fix this, but I don't use my high beams too much, so it is not a concern for me. Any questions, feel free to ask.

You will set your fog lights to draw current from a 15A circuit on a 16gauge wire when it was originally intended to be on a 30A circuit using 12 or 10gauge wire.
Possible issues, you ask? How about dim illumination lights because your fogs are thirsty for current? How about excessive heat in the wire that you tapped because it wasn't intended to handle the current draw you just placed on it? Just this alone could lead to electrical issues, a ruined harness, fire.
Please consider your current demands before you just hook up a wire "because it works"
