KompressorLOgic 06-11-12 12:08 AM

man you know what really erks me!

i was shown where this car was by a freind back in like 2004 and it looked like it had been sitting many years then even, being in high school i didnt even bother tring to ask to buy it since i had zero funds at all,

by the time i could even consider going for it i forgotten where it was.
ive had an fd a few years now allready, but i had allways wondered where that mystery car went! good to see its getting new life tho!

Agreed :nod::icon_tup:

FearNoPiston 07-13-12 05:44 PM

finally got some parts I was waiting for so now time for the engine to go in. Car should be together and running by the end of the month.

engine: stock 6.2L ls3 aside from 231/238 comp cam and prc valve springs and rods bolted up to a gto built t56.

Should be good for about 480ish rwhp and 440ish torque , and the install was a breeze. I have never installed a cam before but this was pretty much child's play.

Threw the motor in, I still have to drop the diff and swap out the torsen diff for a turbo II clutch type I have.

Damn it's looking good. Hard to believe it sat in a field.

The relay box that is normally attached to the negative post of the battery, do you have it mounted like that? If so, how did you do it? I've been looking for a way to mount it but I can't think of anything. Mine is just hanging there right now.

It looks fantastic. What an amazing restoration.

rino 08-09-12 01:33 PM

what kind of rotary is that?

car looks great.

Farkel 08-09-12 01:52 PM

Wow, what a success story and save... congratulations

A body kitted out RX7 sitting in a field turned into a pristine, low mileage R2 that can now demand top pricing

2200 Not as good as 500 or free but pretty good for 26000 miles and potientially one of the very last U.S. R2's ever produced

production date being 12/95
and came with complete carbon fiber in lay interior (one of the best ones ive ever seen)

pics will be up soon

LOL, Dang man good find and still a good price. But I got one with a little front end damage and a PFsupercar engine with 3500 miles on it 450 bucks. It was a 94. LOL I still haven't found anyone that could top that one. It cost me 1000 to get it fixed.

fabes253 08-09-12 04:29 PM

How much did this whole thing cost? on average?

FearNoPiston 08-11-12 07:59 PM

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I am very excited to have her on the road and all done.

Thanks, its actually the positive right terminal, I removed that part and zip tied it seems to sit up just fine. I will probably move it later on.

well it just depends on what deal you get on a pullout, what you sell your rotary stuff for ect. All the mounting equipment is about 1600 shipped, then you need a radiator and intake setup, fab your own or buy one already fabbed to work. Also doing it yourself will save you a bit too.

Well I guess I'll update this thread, went to do some casual drag racing with the car. I made it down the track once bogged off the line and the rear end cried the whole time. Rebuilt the rear end new bearings, 3.90 gears and s4 tii carrier. Went back and broke both axles at once, luckily I had a spare set, threw those on and went back and broke the u joint and the diff started whining again!

Drag vid, ignore my goofy friends comments and my grandma shifting, first time on slicks/dragging :)

I had no intent on this being a "drag car" but I want it to be able to go down the track so after breaking all these parts I decided to upgrade to a 03 cobra 8.8 rear end(still IRS) and also better gear options, so I'm just waiting on parts, will update as they come in.
