I tried cleaning mine up too.

If the scratching isn't bad, use SEM bumper coat plastic spray. Just the right color, it looks great. since I had some gouges, I rough sanded them and filled them with many coats of primer - (grey) - bad idea. Even though it looked great when painted, the first rub of a curb and the grey showed through.

For texture, 3M makes a bumper texture coating that sprays on and leaves a bead-like finish. As I recall, I tried it but the weather wasn't ideal (too humid). Then you paint over it.

This stuff cannot be glued to my knowledge. I tried a variety of gorilla glue/superglue/2 part epoxy / plastic bumper repair epoxy / etc. I'm pretty sure it's a thermoplastic which needs plastic welded. I didn't bother to attempt plastic welding.

Not really, mine last through the rain...it only goes dull when I was the car and soap the lip..
it's not a big deal to wipe it down with the stuff after washing the car..Hell it's better than painting it and having it chip in time...then what do you do take it off again and re-paint it, that would be a PITA....

You can buy new ones for $100 now. My time is worth enough to me that I'd just spring for a new one

FWIW Duplicolor spray on truck bedliner works excellent as well. Made mine look like new and is holding up well for about 2 years now. The stuff fills in the small nicks and scratches very well plus it only costs about $7 and maybe 10 minutes of your time. I also used it for the cowl as well.

That way I keep the texture and get rid of scratches or at least get them to blend in more. The tire shine type products restore the shine fairly well but its not enough for the deep scratches. Was also thinking that there is probably some type of solvent based product that might "melt" the surface area where the scratches are. Some others have to at some point had to deal with this issue. Would be great to see some more ideas. glad you brought this one up rotoboy!
chuck

you can buy textured spray paints - that would give you an even texture on the lip

if you paint the lip make sure that you use some kind of flexible paint since it will chip off ask SkywarpR

Personally, I find my armorall black shine wipe very useful and easy. It takes me 30sec. for my 99spec. chin spoiler to shine and it lasts for weeks

*wipes works better than any tire shine sprays or liquids (from my experience)

IMO painted looks much better...

I chose to add a new look to my FD rather then just revive my lip...

I got a used lip from a friend that looked like your before. i just cleaned it really good, let it dry, then painted it with krylon fusion black paint, the stuff made for plastic. Looks good as new (except for the scratches, but I wanted to leave those on as they were all from track and autox events)

After you get done cleaning it up and installing it, put some wide electrical tape on the leading edge. I will hardly be noticeable and you can replace it when it gets scratched or dinged.

The newer front spoilers come with a rubber strip glued along the leading edge.
