Reviews on PLX guage system.

I have read up a lot about this system. Wow, makes a lot of sense... multi function gauges. I love the differant display modes - graph, regular gauge, multi sensor display. The prices seem very reasonable too.

The 20b pettit FD thread is what turned me on to the whole PLX system, and that seems to be a very well researched and good quality project.

But what can be said as far as setting the entire system up?, how accurate is it?, how use friendly?, would you recomend it?

I am planning on getting an FD in 2 months time and i am doing research on what kind of set up i want to do.. dont worry ive read the entire FAQ and the reliability mod list, they are first on my list. The plan is to keep it clean, and use good quality craftsmanship and materials.

Anyways, thanks in advance.

Regards,

Ben

Perfect system if you just want very few gauges. Keeps the clutter to a total minimum.

However, I dont like scrolling through a multi function to get the info I want. I like to glance directly at the gauge, even if it means having a few more of them.

The PLX is made os you can daisy chain the gauges.

Also most of the important PLX gauges have not been released yet so get the FD first then think mods later. In Canada it is not as easy as in the States to get a clean running FD so concentrate on that first. Gauges are there to diagnose and warn you of problems and/or impending doom.

OLED has got great potential, but being the fan of form AND function, it's not there yet, at least not in these gauges. The pixel density needs to be greater. But that's just IMHO.

Also, and I could be wrong here, the sending unit boxes could be troublesome. The way I understand it is that for each stat, you need the respective box. Yes, you can have one gauge, but you'll need a box for A/F, EGT, respective pressure ot temp, etc. I didn't see the box size with the display I was looking at, but it looks to be about the same size as the HKS twin power box. Maybe a little taller.

This being the first incarnation of this product, I say wait for whatever 2.0 will look like. I'm sure they'll be a huge step in the right direction.

Good valid points here...

1. The display isnt that great of resolution

2. Having to scroll through the gauge to get the desired information..

3. Wait for the 2.0 model.

Thanks for the Input guys
