I was eyeballing this hood too, but never was sure how much it would actually help (if any) my temps. I live in Texas, it is 100F+ here for 6 months out of the year. I have read multiple reviews about the scoot hood getting peoples temps in check. Its just a bit extreme for the look i like.

Somebody should make a Scoot replica hood without the center NACA duct, which is sort of useless unless you've got an NA or V8 car. It would be like the RE hood, only less angular.
BUT, I think you can be pretty well guaranteed that this (Mazdaspeed) hood will work, because Mazda tested it.

I am using the Rotary Extreme hood dampener kit and it works perfectly with the hood. The reason is because it uses a machined bracket that mounts to the OEM points. This was also confirmed by Ronin before my purchase of the hood. The TEIN kit also uses this same type of design. In fact, it's unusually similar. :/
My recommendation, support US vendors and rotarty community contributors and buy the Rotary Extreme dampener kit. Its quality is superb and Ben's customer service is excellent!
I hear ya Gordon. I struggled with my choice quite a bit. As mentioned, my temps have always been solid, but I wanted to take the extra step as my goal of paint came closer. For your NA beast, I still see an advantage. All vented hoods benefit from the use of a high pressure area. The exterior high pressure creates a vacuum for the low pressure engine bay. In turn, it draws the air and creates a vacuum. For you, better radiator cooling. Just a thought.

XLR8... I have always thought about that hood as the only one that looks really good and preserves the stock look, while really venting some hot air. I have the RE hood dampers and they are simply the best. I'm just getting mine repainted as well, Josh, and I thought about the Mazdaspeed hood again, but have no underhood temp issues.

I recently had my car painted and wanted to post up a few pictures of the hood to help some people who may be deciding. My engine bay was torn apart for the paint work, so my car still isn't running yet. With this, the pics were taken in my garage.

XLR8... Yeah, you might be right about my benefiting from the flow, though I've never had any issues with heat. I can think about, because my car is in paint right now (I'm trying a new paint, which I've heard is better than Glasurit.) and changing out a hood doesn't involve my car going away...
Can't wait to actually see it this summer.

Great fitment! Thanks for posting a review.
Gotta remember that the inlet on the original scoot is fuctional as it cools the brake system. Also there is company that makes a hood that is semi similar (not a clone by any means but the closest thing out there) to the scoot but without a center duct. I forget the name and is kinda rare but I'm going on a hunt here when I find it I'll post it

Well then take it up with scoot. I'm only reporting & not running a propaganda for them lol
Edit-
As promised a hood that is similar (again similar is used very loosely) to scoot's
XLR8,
Again thanks for taking the time and posting a review. I apologize for the thread diversion.
