Replacing Thermostat

Hi all,

I've searched with no luck. I need have purchased a new thermostat upon reccomendation to do so and need to install it.

Does anyone know how to replace this? Is there on line tutorial for it?

All i could find is threads on WHEN to change the thermostat, not how to.

Thanks

U got it, bud. There are 3 10mm bolts holding the neck on. You'll see the t-stat after you pull off the neck. Make sure you put in a new o-ring as well.

the o-ring is that black rubber thing that also came in the box right ? goes over the bigger side of the thermo.

I'm guessing it is.

thanks heaps for your prompt support. much appreciated ! maybe others can also learn from this.

drill a small hole in the outer portion of the thermostat so that in the future should this thermo decide to not open the water is still able to barely surculate, but make sure the hole faces upward or it may affect the warm up cycle. The hole should be just alittle smaller than the diameter of a normal pencil.Ive done this to all my motors for years and it has probably saved countless motors from pressurizing and blowing a hose or even worse a inner water seal!

DAMN what a task that was.

so much for 1 hour, try 4.

I'm pretty clued up and knew what had to be done. 3 bolts come off and.....sounds easy!

For stock cars:

Remove air intake hood.
remove air box + piping (LOTS o work)
remove intercooler piping
fiddle with other little ****..
replace thermostat and put it all back together.

thats replacing a thermostat in a nut shell.

if anyone else needs to know how to do it, let me know and i'll help if i can.
