You could probably download the service manual from a sticky on here and follow it. If you're replacing the whole thing then its not too hard.

Putting your diff in a new case may possibly require some new shims, crush tube, and pinion spacer.

Or maybe you will get lucky, and everything will fit.

Here's how to do it:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/fd-differential-remove-replace-writeup-897359/

It would be cheaper ( and a *lot* easier ) to buy a complete diff from Japan2LA, or find one somewhere else.

If you need to change the shims, just a full set costs about $200 - $300. You can't get it right by measuring and ordering the one you think you need.

You can't just unbolt/bolt in to swap the case out. You have to take the whole thing apart and properly set the diff back up. This is VERY complicated.

I would recommend taking it to a shop and having them do the work. There's a LOT to mess up there and you could end up with a junk diff very quickly.

I'll put it this way - I personally wouldn't do it on my car. That should tell you something.

At the end of the day, really, you probably would have been money and time ahead just swapping in a good used diff. But, since you're already in to it....

I had a diff set up by a local shop a while back. Trick is to find some shops that do a lot of 4x4 stuff, offroad guys work on diffs ALL the time. I think I spent like $80 or so to have a guy swap out the ring and pinion for me and set it up.

See my previous post.

It can definitely be a DIY project.

If I can do it, anybody can.

Do tons of research/learning and use the right tools. There is a learning curve, don't expect to do a great job the first time you do it.

If you're making over 400 hp stay with the 4.10s, if less then you may benefit from the 4.33s for street driving
