Replacing the AST

hey everyone.
like the title says, i still have the stock AST and have been strongly encouraged to replace it with an aftermarket one.
that being said, i saw the pettit ast for sale on rx7store.net
http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/pettitast.htm
is this one pretty good, or is there a better option from a different company out there?
also in regards to the actual install, is it complicated in any way. just out with the old and in with the new, or do i have to drain the coolant?
any potential problems that can arise from installing this?
sorry if some of these questions seem dumb, but i just want to make sure all bases are covered.
thanks for the help

pretty basic, just find bolts or something to plug each hose as you remove them to minimise coolant loss.

Yes. and you'll have to burp the coolant system once you install the new one.

lol...burping the system is easy, just time consuming. Basically, you open the highest point in the coolant system(this is the filler cap next to the alternator on the stock setup, but you can relocate your AST to be the highest point if you want to.

Remove the cap, fill it up to the normal position, start the car, and let it idle for a little bit. fill it back up as the coolant level goes down, rinse, repeat until the coolant level stays even, then put the cap back on.

I'd also reccomend(which you should be doing anyway), you check the coolant level every time you take it out for a few days, to make sure it's completely air free.

squeeze the rad hose to get coolant and bubbles flowing through the system too.

I just replaced my AST with a Pettit unit and burped the system. It was very easy, here is a link to the Factory Service Manual that spells it out step by step.
