How do you like the Porsche brakes? They look amazing.
Do they require any modification to fit onto the stock hub?

That bearing you took off looks yucky. How's the new one spin?

The porsche big reds are impressive, way overkill for the street, but great for the track. They felt great at Leguna Seca (where i tested the car) and I will know for sure in April when I take the car to Road America. RA is VERY tough on brakes. You do need to run big rims for them to fit (18" minimum) and you do need a special hat made to mount the rotors and a custom braket to mount the calipers, but no modification to the hub is needed.

The new bearing glides perfectly smooth and it toally silent when spun....but more importanly to me, it has no toggle play..I like things completely tight (or as tight as possible), especially in a track car.

the MAZDATRIX site info on changing bearings is directed mainly to FC owners whose Hub/Bearing assemblys cost over $250ea iirc. (fc's are forged alloy as opposed to the cast iron fd unit)

You're not a real man until you've replaced a rear wheel bearing. It's a more fun project that requires cheater bars, torches, large hammers and hydraulic presses

Are you going to replace the right bearing too? I suppose it should look the same?

DamonB is right about the rears.....you definetly get to use your entire mechanical vocabulary!...

On another note...Do you only get the discount for the specific vehicle you race or can you get them for any car(rx7) that you own?. ...And Thanks again for the link for those that cannot get to a track for the discount. Do these guys have suspension parts available as well?

I just had the T2 come back cause they hit the curb, bent the spindle and wasted the new hub assembly I just put on. As well as the lower control arm, swaybar, and shock. No leaf unturned in this impact. Thanks again!

Damian,

How much time do you have into your RX?

How about some pictures of those couplers and transitions?

hey hi-temp,
depends on what one your talking about, this thread on the wheel bearing had to do with my recently purchased yellow 93 track car, I also have a 95 that I was tracking and will now be a street only car.

pictures of the couplers?...heheh, sure :-)

...and a thread for you too :-)

I was going to replace mine... until I remembered that I only have 13k miles on them no matter how much rust the hubs have on them. So I had the knuckles polished instead.

To replace the front hub/wheelbearings did you have to take off any suspension peices or just the big nut and a hammer is all u gotta take out?
