Removing Stock Oil Pressure Sender
Does anyone know for sure if the ECU (or PowerFC) care about the oil pressure information?
I'm replacing the actual stock gauge with a Defi oil pressure gauge and I'd rather use the stock location for the sender. I don't think the ECU does, as there are quite a few people with faulty senders reading 0 with no effects that I've heard of.

The ecu doesn't care, AFAIK, the sender only goes to the gauge. I know many people have done exactly what you are proposing with no issues.
Another option is to use the Greddy oil filter block adapter, which gives you plugs for temp and pressure. There are pros and cons to using it, you can do a search under my username for my comments on it.

I replaced the stock OP sensor with an aftermarket one and havne't had any trouble. I'm running a PowerFC, too, but I don't think that matters -- I don't think the stock ECU cares about oil pressure, either.
