Removing EGR photo guide

ok this task is easy as hell, but i thought i would share pictures just for the hell of it. built my own block off plate out of some 1/4" thick aluminum and sealed it with some high-temp copper based gasket sealant. yeah, it's a little ghetto looking but i didn't feel like sanding it pretty. when i finally do sit down to polish everything i'll make the block of plate cleaner.

all the parts that need to be removed:

everything out of the way and the egr valve removed:

gunked up egr valve:

homemade block off plate (yes...ghetto as hell)

egr blocked off:

yep. that is all.

Its really of no use if you are running without the airpump and without a catalytic converter. It just another part of the emissions system which won't have a purpose if you remove the other emissions components.

The block off plate as nothing to do with the electronic portion of the Cali and 94 models. You will still need to tackle that part separately after these instructions.

I searched and found a few people saying , if you replace the ecu with a 93 or 95, you will not get a check engine light (egr). How true is this?

Its true if you change the "93" to "93 Non-Cali ECU".
