I removed a decal that was on my RX-7, and I noticed even though the decal is off, you cal still see the outline of the decal. I am wondering if anyone knows what products I can use to strip off the stil visible edges of the decal? I heard Mothers has a products that removes wax and impurities, but I don't what it is called.

 

You could try some 3M rubbing compound. Don't go overboard with it though.

 

-Bug and tar remover.
-There's some orange stuff that works, but I can't remember what it's called.
-Soap

 

goo gone/goof off (get the stuff that's latex paint safe), simple green, my grandpa uses WD40 to get sticker adhesive off of his glass antiques, rubbing alcohol. whatever you do, DON'T use laquer/paint thinner (hey, who knows, maybe you had considered it, just had to throw that in there).

i also agree with bug and tar remover. possibly ammonia. there are a million things, go to your local hardware store (NOT lowes or home depot, some place that where someone actually knows something) and ask them. they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

also try some nail polish remover, that works wonders on getting sticky resude off of stuff.

 

I used it, and there is no trace of a decal now...

 

if the above mentioned doesn't work, you can get some Mother's Clay Bar and gently go over the area with the compound and the clay, then wax and buff it off...should take all the impurities out

You can also get some meguiar's paint cleaner. I've had great succces with them, just a thought

 

Stoner Xenit. I used that stuff to remove many decals on the racecar. It's harsh, but it works, and the paint still looks good. It's basically concentrated orange extract and alcohol.

 

Lighter fluid and a razor blade!!! That works really well.
