Reman or Rx7 store engine

Well im getting ready to buy a new engine for the 7 and i was looking at rx7store.net and they have a stage 2 port engine for like 2800 now is that basically a reman that has been takin apart and ported etc... is there any other difference between the ported engine and just a reg reman from a dealer?? cuz for the extra bucks id rather have the ported engine that has been gone thru.. so kinda curious which route to take..

The reman that rx-7 store offers has a street port job if im not mistaken. Normal remans are just stock motors, no porting done. So in the extra 800 dollars for that engine, u get the port job. If u want, go through malloy mazda, u can get a basic reman for around 2k. Im not sure if rx-7stores price includes gaskets and stuff. It very well could, but I know malloys price is just the core.

I just ordered a Reman from Malloy and had it sent to Pineapple Racing to be street ported w/ stage two oil/coolant mods:

Several months ago I bought the "stage 2" engine from the rx7 store. It was actually an atkins engine. Even though many people are against atkins I recieved an excellent engine with a nice gasket set. Port job was nice and rotor housings were new not used. Main reason I went this route was because my core had damaged parts which a couple top builders were going to charge me extra making the total cost over my budget. Rx7store didn't do this. Just a core charge
