reliable RX7 for $15 total?
Im sorry if this is a typical question and if this is posted anywhere else please tell me.
I have a mazda 3 now and am looking for something else with more power. I was considering a wrx with minor mods or an rsx. But a friend told me that i could get a Rx7 with 100k miles or so for $9,000 and then put $2-3,000 to rebuild the engine and it will be like new and be reliable for 60,000 plus miles. Besides the engine rebuild, new injectors, and new fluids, what else would be required for this? asnd is it really as simple as it sounds?

no, not as simple as it sounds. You also will have to do all the reliability mods if you want it to last, may need turbo's rebuilt/replaced, etc. FD's are over a decade old, just like any older car lots of things will need fixed/replaced. Our cars are expensive to maintain. Not trying to turn you away from getting one just warning you that alot of tlc is needed with these cars. Using the search function will get answers to alot of questions. Look up reliability mods, or just look at the posts here in the 3rd gen section and you'll see alot of the typical problems we have. IMO, our cars are great looking/performing when taken care of, it just takes money to do so.

Yes, exactly what sickass7 said. They are probably one of the best cars you can get for the price, since they have so much power and beauty to them. However, they will get expensive. Keep in mind that although you have a new engine everything else is still 10+ years old on it. If you plan on upgrading it you have to also keep in mind that the more you mod it, the bigger chance you have of somethign going wrong. Your best bet is to check the forums under reliabilty mods see how much they cost and if its in your range then its your call. However just because you have the reliabilty mods doesn't mean that you have a bullet proof car. Also you probably won't find too much luck with a good rebuidl at 2-3k. Spend the extra cash and get a rebuild done by a good and known shop spending around $4-$7,000 (Search function should help here too). I would say ocne you get the car and the rebuild you shoudl have about $5,000+ extra just to be on the safe side. Good luck to ya.
