I found no perceptible difference between MT-90, Neo, and Amsoil. I imagine Royal Purple Maxgear would not be different either.

All of them are good products. If you don't know what's in there now, it's a worthwhile thing to do and it will help clean the tranny out. If you already have one of these 75w-90s in there, IMHO switching from brand to brand will yield no real change.

I'm doing a tranny and difff swap and the guy before me says he has Redline in them, but I want to put my own fluid to make sure there good to go. I had Redline MT-90 and 75-90 before in my old trans and diff and I wanted to try something different.

I just bought some Neo fluid and will be putting it in my tranny some time this winter. Will post results then!

All this positive feedback on the Neo stuff, I'm going to give it a try myself...

I've used Redline oil in both trans and diff in two FDs over the past four years, and was always happy with it, but never did any real back-to-back comparison with others. Clearly not a scientific process that led me to Redline!

I remember reading a couple years back that Redline is great for synchro operation, but not good for bearings. Obviously if many people report grinding and generally-poor shifting that is cured by switching away from Redline, then the synchro argument doesn't seem all that valid. But I still wonder about bearings, as I've had two input shaft bearings go out in two different transmissions while running Redline MT90. I just don't have any comparative data to work with - I've always run Redline.

That said, I did try Mobil-1 75W90 first in the diff, and then switched up to Redline 75W90, and I noticed a significant improvement in diff operation. Exactly how DamonB described it - smoother under power out of corners. It felt much less nervous/twitchy. I wonder if the Neo stuff would produce any noticeable change in the diff...

Anybody have similar experience with bearings?

I run Amsoil MTL gear oil, shifts good, no issues with bearings. I also have ran BG synchoshift and it worked good too. I have tried NEO, no noticiable difference when using it....Redline seemed a bit notchy for me.

That's BS. Any of these oils in 75w-90 will provide superior protection for the bearings. The gear oil only adversely affects the bearings if it's dirty, improperly filled, or of the wrong viscosity. Most bearing problems come from improper assembly or long term wear.

I've read a lot of threads and I've never heard anything about bearing problems related to the oil.

Hmm, I don't remember where I read that. Anyways, the trannies that failed came from different sources, so maybe I'm just hard on transmissions!

Well I decided to take the plunge and change to Neo as my series 7 rx7 is getting notchy into 2nd.

Just received the oil from bakerprecision, and the rip off merchants charged me $200 shipping and handling!!!

Plus they refuse to answer my emails that I've sent over the last week..... buyer beware......

-yes it was to ship to New Zealand (Couldn't find a distributer here) but the website indicated that it would be roughly $40, as per the example of freight charges to the United Kingdom.

So my $38 oil turned out to be $238 - This **** had better be worth it!!!

That is nuts!
It is probably because since you're overseas, Baker Precision sent it declared as a Hazardous product. (They have to). Given that, that is why you were charged $200 for shipping.

What is the approximate weight of the product? (How much oil did you order?).
I've never heard of Baker Precision being "sketchy".

The number should work. I've called them in the past, and I just tested out the 800 number just now. It works. In fact, a representative picked up.

it was the 1 gallon bottle of 75w90hd .... soooo approx 8 pounds weight?

I've been trying to email them.... as I live in New Zealand, it's a little expensive to call them.... but I will do that if I have to

Use Skype or something like that. If you have Skype you could connect to someone in the US and have them conference call the 800 number at no charge to you or anyone for that matter.

I recommend calling. Not sure how you will be charged, since it is an 800 number that you will be calling.

An email, they can avoid.
A phone call, a bit harder to avoid you.

Paying for a phone call, is much easier than swallowing $800.
