Question Red wire by clutch

I felt an ubstruction by my clutch, so I reached down and tried to feel out whatever it was. It turned out to be some wiring, which I accidentally pulled out. Incidentally, the car drove fine for the 10 miles back home. Can someone tell me what this red wire is for and where it's supposed to be connected to? If you can indicate it on the pictures below, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
