recommended dual-tip exhaust

Hi guys,

Can anybody recommend a dual-tip exhaust that has good flow, not too loud, and looks almost like stock (but better)? Upon me buying a dual-tip exhaust, I will have my greddy power extreme exhaust for sale.

thanks for any help,

Anthony

if you want to know why i'm changing exhaust systems, i need to go to a more subtle looking exhaust...here's the full story

You are not going to do better than the Racing Beat dual-tip with your list of preferences.

I found this very unique for a "dual tipped" 3rd gen.

Ha...that's funny. The rest of that car looks rather nice though. Reminds me of the pink AB Flug car.

lol the dual tipped 3rd gen in that post is a little shiny for my taste. i'll have the cop pulling me over again tomorrow if i had that exhaust system on.

i think i'm gonna go with a racing beat exhaust. looks like it will do the job i'm looking for.

Silverockt,
I have the dual tip RB on, and running mp also. Noise level isn't too loud. I'm also in your area, so PM me and maybe we can meet up.

I have the M2 Dual. It's well made and has a decent sound, maybe on the quiet side. I'd prefer a V8 rumble, but what can you expect from a Rotary.

It does NOT sound like a Rice car with a Fart can anyway. I have yet to hear a rotary with an exhaust that sounded Good to me. I haven't heard a N2 Dual yet though!

Here are some pictures in my photo album of the M2 Dual installed.

I have a DP and Stock cat and the tone is slightly louder than stock...nice power and nice tone at WOT. Hopefully will be a bit louder when I stick the MP on

insomniac, i pm'd ya. thanks very much brother.

Has anybody heard the racing beat versus the M2 exhaust and see which one was quieter? My real intent is to subdue the look of the exhaust compared to my power extreme. My exhaust note is only loud when I'm WOT and the exhaust is venting out the dump tube. But yesterday, driving in city streets, I was not on boost, but the cop pulled me over for excessive noise which is total BS. He pulled me over because of the 5" tip exhaust and he tried to write me up for more violations.

I read that the apex dual is loudest of the three (racing beat, M2, apex).

Anyone tried or heard this setup: midpipe with borla xr-1 muffler welded on, racing beat exhaust, downpipe, and single turbo with open dump tube? how does it sound when under normal loads? i would think it would still be loud as hell under WOT since the exhaust gas is bypassing the muffler and exiting through the open dump tube...

thanks for the help guys,

anthony

I would have to say the RB is slightly quieter than the M2. I daily drive and race my M2 and above all I didn't want any noise issues in the cabin on long trips. The M2 fits the bill but I feel the RB is a little quieter. The M2 however has attitude over 4500rpm that the RB can't match

I think ive seen your car before and thought it was stock till you opened your hood. The RB exhaust is very quiet.

Born on the Bayou

Listen to Creedence Clearwater's rendition.

The sustained note you hear at the beginning is exactly the exhaust note of my RB Dual Tip at 4550 rpm in 3rd gear.

Love it!

Yeah saw you at the one FD/FC and 240 meet one time, keeping that sleeper look to avoid cops.

I heard that the m2 sounds like a jetplane hitting its afterburnerners. Im having a hard time choosing between the m2 dual and RB dual does anyone know if these two exhausts have a similuar exhaust tone? Is there any sound clips out there

The RB dual-tip has a more mellow and deeper tone than stock. Once you hit the secondary turbo at WOT, it ROARS with a turbine-like whooshing sound. Letting off the throttle at 3k rpm is great as the exhaust booms (it does not drone at any other time) with some small little exhaust pops. I would guess that the M2 sounds pretty similar but perhaps louder.

There have been some negative comments about the fitment and build quality of the M2 exhaust but I have heard nothing but good things about the RB. Mine fit perfectly and looked great, with good polishing and excellent welds.

Is there a difference in power gain between M2 and RB?

The M2 flows better than the RB, but probably not enough that I would base my decision solely on that.

The tips on the M2 are resonated, that is what gives it its distinctive sound at higher rpm. I too have had many people mention the jet sound at the track. Look at NoRice's excellent pics for the M2.

Racing Beat. Excellent quality. I own a lot of their stuff. Mazda thinks enough about them to do their MazdaSpeed Protege'...

Just put on a RB dual tip this morning. I had the stock exhaust. Removal of the stock exhaust wasn't too difficult. I did have to grease up the rubber hangers to get them off of the steel posts. That was the only difficult part.

I didn't notice much difference. The idle is just slightly louder. Barely noticeable. I didn't notice much difference in volume at WOT either. That's a good thing, because I didn't want a loud exhaust. It is supposed to give another 12 HP, or something like that. My butt dyno felt a slight difference, but it isn't much.

It looks great. Nice shiny tips that stick out just a little more than the stock tips.

Over all, I'm very happy with it, and would buy it again.

AdamC: give it a few days and drive with the windows open, I guarantee you will find it is quite a bit louder than stock. You'll get to love that big booming drone that occurs when you let off the gas at 3k rpm....

rynberg,

I seem to be driving with the windows closed most of the time. Especially at high speed. I'll give your suggestion a try. It just doesn't seem much louder. I still have the stock cat, and don't plan on removing it.
