Recirc the BOV? - NOT a "what kind is best" thread

I was over on FreshAlloy and came across this post

Atmospheric BOV results in your car running rich, stalling at stops, fluctuating idle, reduced gas mileage, backfiring (which results in blown exhaust gaskets), it can also contribute to flooding your cat, fouling spark plugs and o2 sensor.
Now... besides the head gasket does any of this ring true? When I had my FD I had the bov open and didn't experience any of this but it was only 3 months of driving until I had to let her go so I can't really say.... I also did not have an aftermarket BOV and how you run it. i.e. open to atmosphere or recirculated.

Just curious what the response was to FD owners and running a BOV.... I searched through some of the posts but mostly found the oh so common issue of "Is it loud!"

the fd uses a speed density system, which does not measure the actual volume of air going through the intakes...so none of this is true on these cars.....on a car using a mass-air system, this would apply. Mass-air systems require the use of a sensor which actually measures the amount of air entering the intake, so the atmosphere venting bov would then be releasing air already accounted for by the ecu. the ecu thinks this air is going to be ingested by the motor, so it dumps fuel....now u run rich , etc..etc.....

im sure that quote was not refering to a rotary.....lol...lighten up.... he DID say.."besides the headgasket"......

Mine is recirculated into the air box. not directly into the intake line, it keeps the sound of the BOV down some to keep from drawing un-wanted attention to the car, But gives enough sound to make the driving experiance that much more. Noise is the only concern i think for where you have your blow off go in these cars.

I don't see a BOV vented to the atmosphere being a problem with a 3rd gen. Our cars run off a manifold absolute pressure sensor not a mass air flow sensor.

Hell, you can unhook the piping on our intake elbow, slap on a filter and run N/A. The fuel is adjusted only according to pressure in the system, not air flow.

Sorry, but I'm confused now. MAFS?! Was the question for all cars or just rotory specific?! Probably for all cars. I guess I'm just stupid
