Received JIC TI exhaust : Impressions (56k BEWARE)

Hey all, after a good wait, I got my JIC exhaust in. It came nicely packed, with all necessary gaskets and springs to hold the cannister on. When I first picked it up, I was amazed at how light it truely was, and had to bust out a scale

9 pounds they say?

Sure is !!

here we have the stock exhaust

quite a difference.

The cannister itself is wellll designed, and very very nice looking. I was however worried. I accidently smacked a ratchet against it and it made this loud tinny noise like a bell. I hoped it wouldnt sound like that when I threw it on

After putting the Exhaust on : ( also note the nice condensation buildup in my tail lights )

I fired her up. WOW is all I could say.

It sounded like a beast, very very low toned VERY. I just got out and sat there looking at it.

On the initial drive, it sounded perfect, exactly what I was looking for. LOUD when u want it to be, but seriously, you couldnt even notice I had an exhaust when I was just cruising. The second you got on it at all it would ROAR to life. It also has a very very smooth sound to it, no raspy bullshit.

However, as people have complained, it did burn the plastic part of the bumper a bit for the first 10 min of driving, then it stopped entirely.

Overall? 10.5/10 . Im very pleased.

Sound clips coming soon!!

if it were to hang just a bit lower, would it still burn/melt the plastic?

I don't know if I like this exhaust:

1. the blueish tinge- what's with this blueing even before you got it on the car? When I used to ride motorcycle, you try to get rid of the that blue **** now it seems to be in vogue?

2. Why does the tip has to be bigger than the actual pipe? It just ends up making it look like someone ran over some bus or tractor trailer exhausts left on the middle of the road and it got hung up under one's car.

Pre-Bluing is all the rage with Titanium exhausts. Check out this Amuse 350z exhaust we got in for a customer recently.

The bluing is half of what sells this thing (for $2k!!!)

As far as the tip being larger.. maybe since the exhaust has cooled so much by the time it gets to the end of the pipe, the velocity slows down, so you need a larger pipe to evacuate it quickly with no backpressure?

Or perhaps it just looks cool..

Well yeah, if you are going for weight reduction that is simply AMAZING...

Jeez, I hope this doesn't turn into a "style" thread.

$800 is a real good price - I gotta tell ya though, I made my own from some flexible stainless tubing, A Walker high flow muffler, some stainless dual tips. It looks and sounds awesome and works great for me for under $200.00 (I even got a $20.00 mail-in rebate on the muffler). But then again, I love ghetto mods if they are well executed.

BUT, it does NOT have that blue tip thing going!

What you need next is a complete upgrade to your interior with Ultrasuede, and I'll do the whole thing for you, including rebuilding the seats, for only about $4,500.00.
