RECARO RZ seat pix

JConn2299, don't flatter yourself. My responses were and are no longer to you. I responded so as to clarify for others that may have joined the thread later on that what you claim is not true, whether it be about my supposed personal attacks or alleged "vested interest" so as to skew the facts. Trust me, responding to you is no where on my priority list. Just thought I'd let you know that
Oh and feel free to say "but you just responded to me now!" I'll save you the effort of typing that, given that all the empty claims you've made, you haven't been to substantiate a *single* one. I guess you'll grasp on to *ANYTHING* within your reach, eh? I pity you...

I'll take that as an admission that you didn't keep your word. Ah well, a recognition of your shortcoming is the first step toward recovery.

I've had one of those seats before and when you loosen the seat bolts a bit and take it through the twisties it really does bring out the best in you
This thread had better not get locked it's a classic.
Lets face it the seats are made of kevlar, scream money and it's easily seen if you care to look so if I was a thief who specialized in nabbing seats these would be a prime target as would HRE and Fikse wheels etc..... Nobody recognizes quality sooner than a thief because they're constantly getting paid for it.
Lets stop arguing about the seats and start a group buy on the butt plugs

These are nice seats, but just for some perspective, I adopted a nice Sparco EVO from the Fritz Flynn Home for Wayward FD Parts, had Mitch piper do me up a nice custom low-mount slider (w/ factory seatbelt hook up), for about a third the cost of one of these things.

Every welder or custom fabricator that I know of around my area is either a flake, a thief, or a combination of the two.

Yep and probably weighs about the same because of the custom rail

It saved 15 lbs over my stock leather seat and rail. Once I get it exactly where I want it, I'm going to have Mitch do me an alluminum fixed mount, so Rich, I'll sell ya that EVO slider then :-)

Well, I'll have to post the same pix this weekend,(I'm sure this thread will still be rolling by then) but with the doors and hatch closed. But similar to what GoodfellaFD3S said, I'm more concerned with my HREs getting swiped:

Ramy, I guess I'm the worst of both worlds...LOL! I bought the seats, but also paid 4K plus a few years ago for HRE's and tires. Not to mention I have a pair of Volks and Hoosiers coming soon just for autox.

Finally, someone with eyes that can see and a clarity of mind to know a high theft potential when he sees it.

Oh and I take it back...the last time we saw a thread this interesting wasn't the butt plug...it was when you went at it w/ Japan2LA Oh man...I had to get out a bag of Orville Redenbacher's for that one

I priced it out at a mazda japan dealership and came to just over US$1k for the rail, I priced out _most_ of the seat parts (you have to buy each part separately - and there are about 40 parts), and came to US$3.5k, So you are looking at a genuine US$4.5k+ PER SEAT - and that's before freight.
BTW Ramy, fwiw, I had to price a version VI gauge cluster for someone (came to just over 100,000yen) - and that also came ONLY in individual parts. (They didn't have any problems supplying me with spirit-r parts though). Not sure what mazda are doing - but for some reason they are selling version VI parts in 'lego' kits :p

DaiOni, yea the rails were about $490 when I priced 'em in '03 or '04, then I priced 'em again in late '04/early '05, and they were $990 lol...and that was WITHOUT the tilt function.
Oh and thanks for the info re: the lego kits being available LOL...better than nothing.

I'll add my 2 cents about these seats and potential theft..
Not many people would steal FD parts.. Maybe if you had some BIG *** turbos or nice *** rims that could be easily transfer to different cars, but otherwise, its pointless to steal. If someone stole my Spirit Rs, its going to be hard to sell without me knowing.. Especially so many of us wants to brag about these seats on the forums or internet.. Me included.

What a great post.
According to Mazda-Japan, only 500 Spirit R Type "As" were produced in 2002. So, only 500 pairs of the Red Recaros were manufactured... Unless they put the Red Recaros in the Type Bs (which I have to admit, I am not sure). I think the Type C had red leather...
Since you CANNOT buy the FD3S Red Recaros directly from Recaro (believe me, I tried), you have to go to Mazda to do so. Mazda USA will NOT sell parts to cars that were not imported into the US market... nor will they special order them for you. So.. anyone who has a pair of these seats has purchased them from overseas, right??... or wrong..?
Assuming that most of the 500 Spirit R Type "As" are still running (I'm sure some are not), getting ahold Red Recaros is next to impossible... unless someone is willing to part out pieces of their car... which again.. I guess.. is possible, right?
So it is safe to assume that anyone who is selling "mint condition" Red Recaros is dealing in stolen merchandise.
So, calling someone a "scumbag" or "shady character" is like the pot calling the kettle black.
Of course, I am probably wrong. Acquiring "mind condition" Red Recaros in 2006 out of a 2002 vehicle that was never imported into the US is very possible.
.. all of this, of course, is IMHO.

Not sure what point you're tryin' to make here.... If I follow correctly though (Which is very hard to do since your jumping all over the place) you probably shouldn't be making wild assumptions about people just because you've had no luck yourself sourcing these parts .
