looking to get a 3g rx7 and have a question. how much hp can a dealer rebuilt engine handle?

A lot of it is in the tuning of the motor, turbo sizing, etc. more than the motor itself. Of course, if you double the output of the stock motor, overall engine life will be compromised (ie, you won't get 100,000 miles out of it) even with good tuning. But, the stock components are mighty hardy all things considered.
