So I was removing some panels to convert them to black and noticed the ECU was not stock.

I did some searching and it looks like this ZDR Electronics did some electrical repair.
I know the car had a replaced engine harness by Mazda in 02, but did some random shop put in a rebuilt ecu, or what is this?

i've never heard of that brand ECU , try doing a search and seei f they are an aftermarket tunning brand that just didnt catch on like pettit or knight sport .

Ive seen that name in some other forum somewhere during my misspent years as a BMW idiot. I recall that they do ECU refurbishments, not tuning.

Yep. Gotta wonder what poor bastard paid good money to fix an ECU when they're a dime a dozen used.
