Rebuilding the Alternator

I've just had three of my dash lights flicker on while out driving (oil, coolant and charge). Doing a bit of a search resulted in the following thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...warning+lights

So, from what I've read it would seem that my alternator is in need of some attention, the car is running fine at the moment but I want to sort this before the problems mentioned elsewhere start to occur.

How hard is it to rebuild the alternator? I've looked at the FSM (section G) and the exploded view on how to disassemble/assemble doesn't look too bad, testing the components looks ok too. What are the things that normally need replacing the most (brushes etc.)? Is there a "service kit" or something similar that can be had or is it better to just get the bits individually?
