What about Atkins video? Wondering if that is equivalent to bruce's videos.

Also I don't understand how rebuilding can be much less than what a reman engine goes for, if you find the housings are bad.

From what I have heard and read the housings are 85% of the time garbage, especially if the apex seals have broken off, or coolant/water fluid has eaten away at them. I know you have a greater chance that at least one chamber parts will be good since your dealing with two.

So its about $1200 for the kit including apex seals, if you have to replace the housings with new or used you aren't too far away from the $2000 Mazda charges, for the reman.

I guess the real benefit of it all is you gain the experience of knowing:

1) How much you have to spend.
2) and of course the self-fullfillment factor.

I hear you man. Any idea on the cost of all the tools needed. I think I'll buy the video out of couriousity. Please keep us updated on your progress would be neat to hear how things go. Just make sure your water seals are holding up, I hear it can **** on your parade by rusting the internals making most of the parts unusable. If that is the case it would be best to crack it open and then clean.

I spent about 150 on new tools when building the motor, I had lots of tools to begin with. Yes, I finished the rebuild about a month after this post. Nothing bad to report. Motor would still be running great had the guy who bought the car from me not totaled it (jackass). I would have done a complete write up but I have no time, UT has been kicking my ***. I'm going to be building another one soon though, hopefully I'll get around to doing a complete write up with pictures. This ones going to be a half bridge 3mm motor, should turn out pretty sweet.
