If the engine has been apart recently, you can get away with a minimal set of gaskets, $200ish. If the engine hasn't been apart in a long time, you'd need the full gasket set which goes for around $500...assuming the seal springs, bearings, e-shaft and oil pump are okay which there is a good chance they aren't.

To do everything right, and assuming you can reuse the rotor seals which are within tolerance, you're looking at $1500 including a RX-8 e-shaft and RX-8 stationaries with new bearings.

not sure there's a good enough reason to warrant the rx8 eshaft (unless this guys build is more than he writes) ... minus that you can get full rebuild kits in the 1k-1300k range.

atkinsrotary.com
rotaryaviation.com
or Ray at Malloy Mazda for OEM.

GL true believer!

All of the FD engines I've been tearing apart lately have had questionable e-shafts, even a 65K mile engine...that's why I suggested the RX-8 shaft, its a lot cheaper than the FD shaft and its only $160 through Malloy.

If you pull the motor apart, you're going to need more than coolant seals.

At a minimum:

dowel pin o-rings
double o-ring behind the front cover
front cover gasket (i recommend the metal one)
oil pickup tube gasket

How many miles are on it?

Order your oem parts from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda, 888 533 3400, he owns an FD so just describe to him what you need

If you've competed in a couple of sanctioned events (track, autocross....whatever), MAZDAMOTORSPORTS has the best prices I've seen. They also have all the gasket sets.
