rebuild confirmation

my brother's blowing white smoke when he shifts or when he stomps the gas. I told his its your oil seals that are going. He is here with me and wants to get a difinitive answer. Can ya tell him he is going to need a rebuild soon.

He is also looking for some parts...

My brother has a '93 and the black thing below the wind shield is broken. Its the thing that forms around the wipers and flows from one side ofthe window to the other. I am not sure what its called or how much something like that would cost. I need some prices so that I can forword it over to him.

Also need the driver side switches and harnese. I tired of my brother saying he can not find the **** he needs to make his car truely like new. Also an intercooler. either stock or aftermarket. I seen a stock replacement that was all aluminum or something on ebay for $100 buks but I am not sure if thats good.

White smoke is more indicative of an engine burning coolant. Do the champagne bubble test. Start the engine while cold and pull the "radiator" cap. Look for bubbles rising in the coolant fill neck. If you have bubbles, it is very likely that you have a blown coolant seal and a rebuild is in order.

As for the rest, contact Ray at Malloy Mazda. He will give you a full run down on prices for parts. Some one on here can supply the link.

White smoke is an indication of coolant burning, yes, but if the car has been sitting for a while, condensation in the muffler will also cause white smoke. usually, you will find that one needs to continually add coolant, say every week or even every day about a cup of water. when the coolant seal really goes, it will be so smokey that you will not be able to see behind you while idling. I would suggest just keeping an eye on the coolant level. As rare as it may be, if he has the twins on the car, they could be burning coolant as well.

it means u may have to re-build ur turbos... or engine or both

there is no easy fix as the smoke will start to get bigger and bigger as time goes... but check coolant lvls often to be safe...

Just means it could be another problem to look into before thinking the engine's blown.

the condensation is of no concern here as he stated its when he doing some shifts or punching the gas... duh! anyway see if theres a rotary shop in mass or i know there are some good shops here in ny you can go to! its much better when something like this with lots of expense can be involved that you go to reputable shop that can tell you exactly whats wrong and save time and money. try doing like 20 mph in 4th or 5th so your in boost and stop on it if you still see the same amount of smoke its mostly likely an engine coolant seal. if its not smoking then keep on the throttle in gear and wait till boost hits. if its the turbos it will mainly eat the coolant while its acually spooling and creating pressure. make sure you do it with someone in another car with a good eye. good luck and hope this helps!
