not sure about how much weight, but i can't imagine more than a few pounds, not enough to be worth it probably. me, i just want to repaint the thing and haven't really looked closely enough to see how to remove it, whether you have to do it from the inside or unscrew it from outside. anybody?

To remove just the wiper arm remove the little plastic cover at the base of the wiper. YOu'll find one nut, remove it. Fold the wiper arm up and PUSH it towards the car, then pull. You should have to use much force, after a few times of rocking it should come off.
