Rear wheel offset problem, looking for help from rx7 gurus !!
#51
Hi, I'm not really sure if my comment would be of any help, but all of the FD's I have come across so far, mine included, here in Thailand have unsymmetrical "wheel offsets" in the rear. I don't know if this was a result of manufacturing tolerance issue with RHD cars but they all seem to be that way (10-20mm difference in terms of wheel poke in the rear). The RX7 specialist shop that I take my car to has a fleet of RX7 race cars that they use to race in local racing tournaments and they too have uneven wheel poke.

Does anybody know the width of the rear from fender to fender?
The bodyshop manual doesnt seem to have that measurement.
I'm going to measure mine from the widest point of the rear left fender ( outside edge of the lip ) to the same point on the right side.

This is what I get! 1332mm rain channel to rain channel (outside), 200mm from the channel to the outside lip (left), 198mm (right).....1730mm. The car with stock guards, does have reinforced shock towers, so I suspect there may be slightly more width directly above, I measured aft of the towers.

I did measure to the inner lip of the wheel arch using a steel rule, not worrying about level, 435mm both sides to the parting line of the rail and tower - might just be able to make out the spot in the low contrast primer at the end of the ruler.

Have been flat out with work over the last couple of weeks so haven't had much time to work on the car, however I have put it back together and adjusted my camber and toe, it's looking much better but still not 100percent.
I will get to it in the next couple of weeks and give some updates.
It's also interesting how somebody mentioned that all the RHD cars they have seen in Thailand are also uneven in the rear.
