AB Rear Spoiler Mounting

As my FD is coming together I have been thinking about alternatives for the rear deck. Right now my FD displays that nice shaved smooth look (no spoiler) and I think it is wanting. I do very much like the Shine Auto LoPro, but at the same time I have been looking at many, many pictures of members cars and it kinda struck me - has anyone taken the stock R1 spoiler and simply pushed it backwards on the car until the base lines up with the top outer lip of the rear lights ?

I tried this earlier tonight while I had a R1 spoiler off the parts car and was getting ready to ship it. Man it looks good. It lengthens the deck somewhat, keeps the flow of the rear light sweeping backward and the top lines up beautifully with the bottom of the rear glass. The more I sat there and looked at it I had to think that that was the original location for the wing before someone slid it forward at Mazda because they couldnt figure out the correct mounting.

I would love to see a finsihed pict if anyone has done this before.

interesting concept, but it would always bother me seeing as it is a factory part. it would make me feel like a body shop re-installed it wrong, like when you see badges put on in the wrong positions after a repaint

Make a bracket that would allow you to use the stock holes while pushing the tail back, would probably be the easiest route.

I have an RE-Amemiya spoiler on my car that's a copy of the stock spoiler but a little larger. It does just that - sticks out over the taillights and over the edge of the hatch a bit. I love it, it's subtle and most people can tell something looks a bit different but not sure what.

Racing Beat also has a spoiler that's kind of in the same vein as well.

Also, the RE-Amemiya uses the same holes as the stock spoiler to mount which is a plus.

Darn it DALE! Why'd you have to show us that picture? Now I need to find that spoiler for my FD.
