How do you remove the rear Mazda RX-7 Emblem?

Mine is in pertty good shape but I'm considering putting a brand new one on. I dont want to scratch the car so what is the best way to remove these Mazda RX-7 Emblems?

Thank You

Try heating it with a heat gun to loosen the adhesive. Then try to pull with your fingers or slide fishing line or maybe even dental flose behind it to help pull off.

use a heat gun to loosen the adhesive....then use a thin soft string (dental floss actually is pretty good) to cut through the adhesive to separate it from the paint. good luck!

Thanks for your replies. I'm somewhat cautious about a heat gun. Dont want to mess up the paint. Can I just go with the dental floss alone???

if you are talking about the small soft platic ones on the back passenger side they just stick on so you can floss it off. Before you remove them take some masking tape and go around the outline of the emblem. This way once its off and you remove any old ahesive you will know exactly where the new one should go.

Ya, definitely... I've used dental floss alone many-a-time.

There's a bumper sticker remover spray you can buy at auto parts stores that works pretty well. Spray on, let it soak, and then saw away with floss. Any residue can be removed with it too. It's safe for paint and clear coats too I believe. Wear gloves to protect your fingers from the floss and a mask for the spray. I remember my sinuses were wrecked for like a week after that because I was inhaling that spray! You really don't have to mask off the borders as you'll definitely see the shadow from the paint oxidation over the years.

I used floss to break apart the adhesive then just pried on it without breaking it. I only managed to pop off one tab on the back of the emblem.

If you want to sell your old one, PM me the details. The bottom of the '7' on mine recently got broken off.
