Hello.

Am currently mid way through a cltuch change. On removal of the fly wheel I can see that there is a thin film of oil on the outside of the rear main oil seal. The bell housing is dry however. I would assume that this indicates the early stages of the seal failing? What sort of job is it to change this seal? Is it neccessary to use the sst mentioned in the fsm?

No special tools needed .

 

Just pull it out and tap the new one in.

If its that simple it not worth not doing. Yet another addition to the list of things to do.
