Rear end or tranny howling

I do not think this is normal, but when I let off the throttle and coast with the car in gear I rear a howling noise from either the tranny or rearend. It sounds like it is more coming from the rear end. Could the torsen unit be bad? or Maybe bad fluid? I am know there is some kind of synthetic oil in both.

Like a whining sound? A jet engine sound? I have something similar. Below are the important facts:

1. Had Torsen Unit replaced with Turbo II Diff and 4.33 gears
2. Had no noise or problems for about a month
3. Went to the track, launched with 6 psi, wheel hopped BADLY
4. As I was slowing down after the run, I noticed the whining immediately
5. Ever since then, a lot of whining on decelleration
6. Mechanic pulled inspection cover of diff: wear looked fine
7. Still have whining, and it's pissing me off
8. I still think it may have to do with a wheel bearing; however, I've never gotten any confirmation on that.

Did you even find out what the problem was? I just had this exact thing happen to me last night at the track.
