Rear brake pads removal

Hey !

I want to change my rear brake pads but have problems releasing the parking brake cable. Even the clip was a real pain to remove, but now I cannot remove the cable to be able to rotate the caliper all the way to the top.

How do you disconnect that cable ? Any pics would be great

Thanks !

Is the cable just stuck? You have played around with the handle in the car I assume, um, I've never had that problem before, have you tried unbolting the caliper from the mounts and playing with it? It might help, but otherwise I don't know what to do, sorry. Josh

i just unbolt the top bolt that connects the caliper to the mount and swing it out. Either that or the bottom one, cant remeber. But it doesnt swing out of place to easy, i just used a long screw driver and slid it between the rotor and the caliper and pry it out. Then just brake the pads loose. Mine were someone stuck on, nothing to bad. Then you something to retract the caliper piston back into place by turning it. Then intall in the order you took them out.

Actually, I could take the pads out, actually, I just had to give them a slight push from the outside of the caliper. I'm worried there should be clip or something holding them in position and either I dont have one or it stayed in the caliper. I'll take a look tomorrow. I hope everything will go ok after installation. You turn the piston to retract it ?

After some fillding I managed to unhook the rear caliper and release the rear pads. I dont have any clips in the rear caliper for the pads like there are in the front calipers and as shown in FSM. Can that cause problems ? It's been like this I dont know how long and I didnt have any problems with rear brakes so far (I pulled them out to get some racing stuff fabricated on them).

Stupid Bönez Stage 1 pads suck. On left wheel the braking material fell off on one pad. Could it be due to heat on the track ?

Another question - I only have 1 metal plate per each pad in the front and FSM shows there should be 2 - again, can this cause any kind of problems ?
