Rear Brake Pad Replacement
I'm just finishing up on a major overhaul of my brake system and I've encountered a snag. I replaced the rotors, pads (Hawk HPS), and brake lines on all 4 corners and installed speedbleeders in my calipers. Everything went fine except the rear pads. I can't seem to get the caliper to slide over the pads onto the rotor. They keep hitting the shims. If I really wanted too I'm sure I could get them over (ie. hitting it with a hammer..), but I just feel like I'm doing something wrong. The piston is fully retracted into the caliper, and the groove is aligned properly. I'm guessing the combination of new rotors and pads is mainly to blame. If I remove the shims I can get the caliper down, but that obviously isn't the right solution. Anyone have ideas? TIA.
