Really Quick Boost Gauge Question

On installing boost/therm gauge, correct me if im wrong but this seems to be a mechanical boost gauge, now im getting the ones from Defi which are electronical, is the installation the same except instead of the mechanical line going straight to the boost nipple, does a electrical line go from the sensor which is connected to the nipple anyway?
I think im going to have an issue installing this
since im like the noobest noob here lol. I dont think it helps that im 16 :P its for a 99 FD and A-Pillar installation so i dont know how different thats going to be

Mechanical gauges require a vacuum line to be run from the intake manifold, to the gauge itself. Electric gauges like Defi, use a sender places anywhere you want, connected to a vacuum line. I have my sender in the engine bay. Then a wire is run from the sender, to the gauge for the signal.

Don't follow Defi's install guide above!
Split the line going to the stock MAP sensor with a T-fitting and run the additional feed to the Defi boost sensor (which you can mount to the firewall right by the stock MAP sensor). Then run the signal wire into the cabin to your gauge (or gauge controller if you are getting the Link/BF series).
If you do not understand this, then have someone else install it! There's no shame in that!
