Hood fitmit question??

Maybe I'm retarded but you can't adjust the latch left to right correct?? I installed my VIS KS hood and it fits fine until I lower it into the latch then it shifts toward the drivers side and leaves a gap on the passengers side. I've already cut around the latch and everything, and it closes all the way with no problem, just when it slides into the latch it shifts. Any help would be appreciated.

How hard would it be to bend the hook on the hood without ripping it off??

Loosen the three 10mm bolts securing the latch and adjust it according. Don't bend the hood striker. Section S page 6 in the work shop manual.

What's wrong with bending the hood striker? If it's metal and is removable, so that you don't tear it off the hood . I've done it on my wrx a while back, you couldn't even notice it, and the hood sat straight. all the lines almost perfect. I tried adjusting the lock/latch, moved it as far as possible to the side so it wouldn't pull the hood in that direction, but it wasn't enough so I bent the striker a little. It was the last possible solution, next to buying another hood. In my case it was only about 2mm. After all the pain I went through with that damn hood, I decided to stick with original. It was too short by about 1cm may be 1.5cm sp I had to drill the hinges where they attach to the car to move them forward, tiried lining the fenders with the hood. At the end it looked good but it was a pain to get it there.

Ok I didn't have a chance to mess with it last night I had something else I had to do. But just from looking at the latch it doesn't look like you can adjust it. The screws/bolts go into nuts welded to the body. Maybe you can move it alittle and the washers are covering the slits, but it isn't going to be very much. I'll figure something out tonight, might have enlarge some holes.

Just wanted to do a follow-up with you can only adjust the actual latch about 3mm from left to right, so needless to say that didn't really help any. Not sure what I'm going to do, I guess I may try bending the hood striker if I don't think it is going to mess anything up. Or maybe just remove the latch and use the hood pins.

If your car is parked in a house/apartment garage, that is what I would do.

Obviously we're not being able to see exactly how much your hood is off once closed. But the latch assembly should rotate a little, which would also tend to move it left or right.
Bending the latch hoop might be necessary, but I'd do it as a last resort. Bending it too much or in the wrong spot can cause the latch to wear prematurely and/or bind up.

It is parked in the basement, unless it is being driven of course. I would probably worry about someone messing with it when I parked it at the store or something, but I don't guess that is very likely.

It's hard to say how much it needs to go I would probably say 1/4" or so. Rotating it probably won't do very much either, but I understand what you are saying. And for bending it as long as I have the hood pins it shouldn't matter.

Ok easy solve that I didn't think of. Well actually I did then forgot and someone said it and reminded me.

Take the holes that the screws go through on the latch to attach it to the body, and enlarge them a little bit. Thats what I get for trying to think to hard.
