really dumb question: throttle cable removal
Hey guys, I tried to remove my throttle cable in order to replace it but ran into some trouble last night. It won't come thru the firewall. I pulled the throttle pedal out to get clearance.. but there seems to be a clip on the passenger compartment side that is stuck. I tried prying on it, poking, etc... no dice. Tried pulling on it from the engine compartment side... still no luck.
I searched a bit but no info that I could come up. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Really dumb answer: throttle cable removal
Well, if your replacing it, seems to me you could just cut it there, maybe not duno what your doin exactly, but you shouldnt have to cut it. I'm thinking there is a 2-tab push in bulkhead fitting that pushes in from the engine compartment side into the firewall. Has 2-tabs similar to the 2-tab retainer that snaps into a z-bracket on the UIM to hold throttle cable. Cant remember for sure, but there may also be one on the inside too that has to come off first. Try turning the bulkhead fitting on the inside 90degrees while someone holds the outside of firewall part still and see what happens.
Man, thought I was gonna for sure help ya, but its actuall been years since I messed w/that. Maybe I should go out to the garage and give myself a refresher course

The tabs holding it to the firewall are a BITCH. Every one I've replaced have basically mangled on the way out. You just have to pinch the tabs with pliers and push and shove, it's really not too bad.
If you need extra room, the gas pedal is held in with like 2 bolts, easy to remove.
New one is a cinch to install, though.

Thanks a lot guys. Bill, nice detail on your post, really appreciate the link. I basically destroyed the stupid rectangular clip to get it out. I think I elongated the cable a good bit too, it is now worthless, throw away item anyway It would have been 100x easier if I had someone in the engine bay pulling while I pushed the clip out from the passenger compartment.
